OUR PASTOR
Very Reverend Fr. Christopher Gray, STL, KHS
Fr. Christopher Gray is the pastor of St. Mary's and its mission, St. Lawrence, in Heber City.
Fr. Gray was born in Stockton, California. He attended The Madeleine Choir School and Judge Memorial Catholic High School in Salt Lake City. He then went on to the University of Utah, where he studied mathematics and Spanish while working at the Intermountain Catholic as a staff writer and associate editor. He entered Mount Angel Seminary in 2007 and went on to study in Rome at the Pontifical North American College. He earned a Bachelor of Sacred Theology (STB) from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 2012 and a Licentiate of Sacred Theology (STL) from the Pontifical Lateran University in 2014.
Fr. Gray was ordained a priest on June 29, 2013, at the Cathedral of the Madeleine by the Most Rev. John C. Wester. In the Diocese of Salt Lake City, he has served as parochial vicar of St.s Peter and Paul Parish and the Cathedral. On Aug. 1, 2018 he assumed his duties as pastor of St. Mary's.
Since 2021, the Very Reverend Fr. Gray, STL, KHS, has been the Dean of the Salt Lake Deanery of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, including the Cathedral of the Madeleine and the parishes of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Lourdes both in Salt Lake City and in Magna, Sacred Heart, St. Ambrose, St. Ann, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Marguerite, St. Olaf, St. Patrick, San Felipe, and St. Vincent de Paul. Fr. Gray also led the 2022-2024 Eucharistic Revival in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. Fr. Gray is a member of the EOHSJ. Since 2024, Fr. Gray serves as the president of the Presbyteral Council of the Diocese of Salt Lake City. Fr. Gray is a member of the boards of trustees of the Catholic Foundation of Utah and Holy Cross Ministries.
